The competition will promote the use of GNSS and Earth observation in European and African agriculture.  The European GNSS Agency (GSA), the agency of the European Union (EU) managing Europe’s satellite navigation systems, EGNOS and Galileo, today announced the return of the Farming by Satellite Prize. Registration is now open for young innovators to explore the use of satellite technologies in agriculture to enable sustainable farming practices, improve efficiency and reduce the environmental impact. The Farming by Satellite Prize is a joint initiative with the European Environmental Agency (EEA), the agency of the EU providing independent information on the environment to decision makers and the public. The EEA also manages the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service and cross-service In Situ co-ordination.

The European GNSS Agency (GSA) and SuperHalfs are delighted to announce that Galileo – the European Union’s global navigation satellite system - has thrown its support behind the international half marathon series and will become the Presenting Partner. The news comes as thousands prepare to plot their running journey across the continent.

The University of Technology of Compiègne, France, has hosted a live demonstration of the first autonomous vehicle powered by Galileo. As part of this demonstration, a Renault ZOE electric car has been autonomously driven on tracks and on public roads in a world first for the Galileo programme.

The winners of this year’s MyGalileoApp competition have been announced at a ceremony held at the European GNSS Agency (GSA) headquarters in Prague on November 7. First prize of EUR 100,000 went to ARGEO, a mobile app based on geolocation, augmented reality and blockchain that allows users to discover content such as prizes, coupons and shopping cards geo-located around the streets of a city.

Stejně jako v předchozích letech si veřejnost bude moci v rámci Dnů otevřených dveří GSA 2019 užívat program nabitý vzrušujícími aktivitami i zajímavými prezentacemi.

The European GNSS Agency (GSA) is opening its doors to the public for the fifth time on 8-9 November in what has become an eagerly awaited annual presentation of the GSA’s activities and of the European Union’s space programmes Galileo and EGNOS. As in previous years, the GSA Open Days 2019, which is being organised during Czech Space Week, will be packed with exciting activities and interesting presentations for the public to enjoy.

Four new innovation actions, with a total budget of EUR 21 million, opened under the Horizon 2020 call ‘EGNSS market uptake 2019-2020’ on November 5. Dealing with EGNSS applications for pre-commercial procurement and fostering digitisation, smart mobility, societal resilience and environmental protection, these are the last Horizon 2020 calls before the launch of its successor framework programme – Horizon Europe. The deadline for submissions is 5 March 2020.
