Orolia selected for Galileo resilient time receiver initiative

The European GNSS Agency (GSA) has awarded a grant of up to €1.7 million to resilient positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) solution provider Orolia to develop a resilient time and frequency receiver to protect critical GNSS-reliant systems. The Galileo Authenticated Robust Timing System (GEARS) project will provide accurate and highly robust Galileo-based time and frequency data for critical infrastructure. The project should deliver its robust Galileo timing solution by 2021.

Demetra delivers dividends for ELPROMA

ELPROMA, a Polish manufacturer of NTP/PTP time servers, has won a seven-figure US$ contract to supply Rubidium IEEE1588 NTS-5000 servers to support a country-scale modern smart grid system in Asia. The servers, which are custom built (designated “Safe Time”), incorporate a modified version of the cyber-security TSI#2 solution developed as part of the Horizon 2020 ‘DEMonstrator of EGNSS services based on Time Reference Architecture’ (Demetra) project, in which ELPROMA participated in 2015-2016.

Galileo Masters 2019 open for submissions!

The 2019 edition of the Galileo Masters opened for submissions on May 1. Since it began in 2004, the Galileo Masters has scouted for the most forward‐thinking applications based on Galileo and EGNOS. Innovators and entrepreneurs are now invited to submit their innovative solutions to the competition by 31 July.
The GSA has selected 30 teams to advance to the development phase of the competition.

MyGalileoApp rocks the app development world

The European GNSS Agency’s (GSA) MyGalileoApp competition has sparked significant interest among the app development community, with the high number of entries in the competition underlining the value that app developers place on Galileo’s precise positioning. The GSA has now selected the 30 most innovative projects to advance to the next phase of the competition.
U.S. manufacturers are eager to take advantage of the added accuracy that Galileo offers.

GNSS chip manufacturers gear up for Galileo roll-out in U.S.

Following a waiver by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of its rules in November last year, in which it allowed devices in the United States to access signals transmitted by the Galileo Global Navigation System, leading U.S. manufacturers are preparing to roll-out Galileo on U.S. territory.
The UCP enables direct interaction between users of positioning, navigation and timing solutions and the organisations and institutions that oversee Galileo and EGNOS.

User Consultation Platform helps shape the future of European GNSS

The European GNSS User Consultation Platform was hard at work in Marseille during this year's EU Space Week. Parallel panel sessions brought together users from different market segments. Each session had specific objectives aiming at profiting from the valuable contributions of users. The UCP ended with a plenary session in which the elected chairperson of each panel presented the results of their discussions to the wider community.

A first series of Reports on User Needs and Requirements on position, navigation and time has been published on the European GNSS Service Centre web portal in the section “GSA Publications”. The publication of this series paves the way to the 2018 edition of the User Consultation Platform to be held in Marseille on 3-4 December 2018 as part of European Space Week.

GSA funding opportunity: Multi-frequency multipurpose antenna for Galileo

The European GNSS Agency (GSA) has opened a call for proposals within its Fundamental Elements funding mechanism to develop a Galileo-enabled multi-frequency antenna. The activity shall also focus on developing a close-to-market GNSS antenna for both mass-market and professional users. The deadline for submissions is 08 March 2019.
The enhanced UseGalileo site is another example of how the GSA is keeping the user at the centre of European GNSS.
