SKYOPENER
Establishing new foundations for the use of Remotely-Piloted Aircraft Systems for civilian applications.

Background & Objectives

SKYOPENER will enable the use of RPAS for civilian applications by contributing to the roadmap for the integration of civil RPAS into non-segregated airspace In this context, the use EGNOS and GALILEO is a major opportunity to provide enhanced navigation services in terms of integrity and positioning accuracy. SKYOPENER will develop a system and operational processes that will reduce all categories of risks associated with RPAS and allow an ANSP (Air Navigation Service Provider) to manage Very Low Level (VLL) RPAS operations. The project will also demonstrate two innovative applications: e-TOD (electronic-Terrain Obstacle Database) and Surveillance of critical infrastructure that benefit also from EGNSS (European Global Navigation Satellite System) for measurement geolocation and datation (time synchronization) and that represent major business opportunities.
