GNSS R & D ProgrammesThe 7th Framework Programme for research and development is the European's Union's main instrument for funding research in Europe in the period 2007-2013. FP7 is providing support to R&D and innovation on GNSS, to accelerate the European market for satellite navigation applications creating opportunities for European industry. Galileo FP7 strategic objectives are to create economic value, achieve public benefits and increase the competitiveness of European industry, through the acceleration of downstream satellite navigation markets. On the 20th of July 2010 the EU launched a series of calls for proposals for a total of €30 million covering eight topics in the area of satellite navigation. Acting under powers delegated by the European Commission, the GSA will be responsible for managing most of the available budget. As was the case for the previous two calls, the emphasis will be on mature and commercially viable research – with an immediate impact on the market. The EU is open to innovative ideas from the market and especially welcomes proposals from small companies and newcomers to Framework programmes. * A quickstart guide is available here. * FP7 FAQ is available here.
