Master’s degree course in GNSS starts next September03 February 2012Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) are the basis for an ever-increasing number and range of applications. In response to the growing demand for qualified experts in the field, the Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (ENAC) and the Institut Supérieur de l'Aéronautique et de l'Espace (ISAE) in Toulouse, France, are offering a Master of Science (MSc) degree in GNSS. Students at ENAC in Toulouse ©ENAC The two-year MSc in GNSS programme, which starts at ENAC in September, aims at providing advanced training in satellite-based positioning and its applications, as well as in telecommunications. It also includes a six-month internship in industry. The qualification has been recognised by the French Ministry of Higher Education. Applications are open to students with a bachelor's degree (BSc or BEng) in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics or equivalent. All classes are taught in English. Some of the topics covered include: navigation and positioning techniques, different GNSS applications; alternative positioning techniques; signal processing and design; space and mobile telecommunications; network architecture; systems engineering; project management; intellectual property rights; telecommunications and GNSS businesses. Meeting a growing demandThe European GNSS Agency (GSA) now says it expects the global market for satellite-based navigation products and services to grow to about €250 billion by 2030. Meanwhile, activities and developments vis-à-vis all GNSS and regional augmentation systems are all driving the need for qualified graduates to fill open positions in the field. A European partnershipThe MSc in GNSS programme was developed with the support of the European Commission and the European GNSS Agency (GSA) as part of the as part of the Seventh Framework Programme. Partners include the Universität der Bundeswehr München, and Politecnico di Torino, both recognised for their leading roles in education and research in the GNSS field. These universities also carry out teaching duties within the GNSS MSc programme and provide students with valuable international links with the GNSS industry. For this opening year, the GSA is providing nine €4,000 scholarships to students. See conditions on the Master in GNSS website. More information: |
